Bill Tripp – Fast Beauties

The roar of the waves and the thrill of speed have obviously predestined his career. A path that has led the young naval architect Bill Tripp from the University of Michigan directly to Doug Peterson, one of the “speed kings” amongst yacht designers of the 70s. Aroused with enthusiasm for tempo and style, he started developing ships that ”sail on the water, not through it”. He became self-employed in 1984. The corporate philosophy of “Tripp Design” was summarised by the boss himself: “When it comes to yacht design, the sea gives us certain rules that should definitely be respected. That does not hinder us to create a maximum of flexibility, comfort and elegance.” Bill Tripp manages to do exactly that, as experience has shown A&R. Throughout time he has proven to find an especially attractive common ground for technology and aesthetic. One of the most beautiful examples of this now goes by the name “Alithia”.
