And the winner is Marco Möller

AWARD FOR ARTISIANS IN SHIPBUILDING

On 30. October 2019 as part of the festive International Superyacht Society Design & Leadership Gala our very own Marco Möller was presented with the Award for Artisans in Shipbuilding. The award, sponsored by Quantum Marine Stabilizers, was established in 2017. It was Quantum’s John Allen, who was the recipient of the Business Person of the Year 2016 award, who first came up with an idea that not only outstanding design, innovation and leadership qualities should be acknowledged, but also the craftsmanship, the skills and commitment of people through whose handiwork these unique and exceptional yachts come to life.

Every year all shipyards are invited to nominate an outstanding employee in this field. The idea behind this is to honour extraordinary personalities that deliver consistent and stellar performance, show relentless commitment, are continually willing to improve and further develop their skills and share their expertise and experience with their colleagues. Most of the time, they work behind the scenes. That is why, with this award, these exceptional colleagues are shown the recognition and appreciation they rightly deserve.

At Abeking & Rasmussen all trade groups are asked to nominate and outstanding colleague. It is then up to the shipyard’s own jury, consisting of works council, apprentices and production management, to choose just one candidate. This candidate is then nominated for the ISS Award. Out of all the nominees only two are invited by Quantum to attend the ISS Gala as part of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. We were honoured that this year our own Marco Möller, accompanied by his wife Claudia, attended the Gala.

Marco Möller is Abeking & Rasmussen’s longstanding, loyal and exceptionally competent employee. He started his apprenticeship in Industrial Mechanics in 1993 and specialized in machinery and equipment. Ever since, he has been continually valued as an outmost remarkable, reliable and highly qualified employee that has worked on and contributed to numerous innovations in shipbuilding. Sharing his expertise and experience with the new generations has always been of supreme importance to Marco Möller. They, in turn, value highly his patience and the ability to explain even the most complex concepts.

All these qualities have been described in great detail in the nomination process. We were always confident that Marco Möller would successfully convince the international jury, just as he had us. Congratualtions!
