In response to an individual client brief, the London based design team works from initial concept and tender process through to technical design, fabrication and delivery.
Peder, Ewa, Ben and Richard are closely involved in all aspects of every project, and are supported in their riverside studio by a passionate team of designers. The team strongly believethat quality and personal attention to detail remain key to their success.
Was this career always your dream, or did an unusual opportunity lead you in this direction?
A&R 01
Yes, for Peder, it was a dream of his since childhood. He has been drawing boats since he was 2 and still owns drawings from when he was 6! Peder wanted to be a Superyacht designer from the age of 12 when he read an article in a Norwegian boat magazine about Superyacht designers. It resonated with him, and he thought, “This is what I want to do”.

Do you have a funny anecdote from a project with Abeking that you can share?
A&R 02
When Peder asked Sir Lloyd Dorfman at the beginning of the project the meaning of the yacht Elandess. He responded to Peder “you will never be a codebreaker will you! It is L and S, Lloyd and Sarah (his wife)”.

What is the most important advice you would give to new yacht designers?
A&R 03
Sketch, Sketch, and Sketch! Sketching is an integral part of the design process and one that is key for communicating ideas quickly and translating the wishes of the owner. It’s an intuitive design process that we really pride ourselves on at Harrison Eidsgaard. My other advice for keen yacht designers is to create concepts that are realistic but also original. Too often we see either or, but it is the combination that makes for a great yacht.

What future trends in yacht design excite you the most and why?
A&R 04
I am excited to see developments in new propulsion packages. These free up space on the lower deck in particular which makes room for us as designers to be more creative with the owner and guest areas.
