INTERVIEW

IN DIALOGUE WITH
LAURA SESSA

What role does sustainability play for you and your clients?

A&R 01

In our design development process, we consistently adopt an approach focused on optimizations and waste reduction. Although the pursuit of a sustainable method is resource-intensive and requires careful oversight, we have, together with our artisans, refined a process that combines efficiency with tradition, resulting in a sustainable and resource-conscious development path. This enables us to provide our clients with custom furnishings of great artisanal value while maintaining a high level of elegance.

What is the most important advice you would give to new yacht designers?

A&R 02

The most important advice I would offer to new yacht designers is to cultivate a deep cultural awareness and draw inspiration from the rich heritage of the past. Your designs should not merely serve as a testament to your professional prowess, but rather, they should elegantly fulfill the desires of your clients with a perfect balance of form, function, and fundamental harmony. Embrace the challenge of creating something that transcends the ordinary, crafting vessels that are both beautiful and functional, while respecting the timeless principles of design.

If you had the chance to design a yacht for a movie, which movie would it be, and what would the yacht look like?

A&R 03

If I had the chance to design a yacht for a movie, I would choose Assassinio sul Nilo directed by Wes Anderson. The yacht would be a stunning blend of Art Deco elegance and whimsical charm, reflecting Anderson’s signature style. Picture a vessel with sleek, geometric lines, adorned with rich mahogany and brass details, and interiors that feature bold, pastel color palettes and intricate patterns. The design would marry the opulence of 1930s luxury with Anderson’s quirky, symmetrical compositions—creating a floating world where every detail, from the vintage bar to the sun-drenched deck, tells a story of mystery, romance, and timeless style.
