Unlike the pilot tenders, the station ship acts as a hotel ship and offers enough space for 40 pilots and a crew of 20. Thanks to the SWATH@A&R construction, the stay on the vessel is much more comfortable even in rough seas, than on a conventional monohull ship. Since the commission of the new 60m Elbe, the vessel has been serving as a replacement ship for the station ships in the Elbe and Weser estuaries.
