BG24/25/26

The 66 m patrol boats BG24, BG25 and BG26 in service for the Federal Border Force (now Federal Police) replaced older vessels in the North and Baltic Seas in 2002 and 2003. Particular focus with these vessels was put on further improving seakeeping and manoeuvrability. The vessels stand out for their application diversity. This is made possible by the use of a hybrid drive, made out of a high-speed diesel engine and a special low-speed electric propulsion unit that is fed by the on board power generator. This makes for a particularly cost-effective operation of the hybrid diesel-electric engine powered vessel by its usual working speed of up to 12 kn.
