The impetus for the construction of the SWATH@A&R yacht came from Alex Dreyfoos, a yacht owner from the 1960s on, as well as an Oscar winner, photographer, inventor and an art patron. Mr Dreyfoos was on a look out for a unique ship that would keep calm even in rough seas, in order to accommodate his wife who suffers from seasickness. He found just that in SWATH@A&R technology and nothing stood in their way to a voyage around the world. The unusual 44 m yacht offers 60 percent more space compared to similarly-sized ships, and above all she impresses with her enormous efficiency and seaworthiness. In an endurance test, a maiden voyage around the world that took 19 months and 48.000 miles to complete and took the Dreyfooses through some rough seas around North Alaska, Papua New Guinea and the Galapagos Islands, Silver Cloud scored top marks across the board. And that not only with her owners. In 2009 it was awarded the title ‘World Superyacht’ in technology category.
